Facts You Should Know About Health Insurance Card

As it is popularly said that health is wealth but another fact is that medical treatments require wealth. People need a health insurance that might help them to secure them from diseases. It often happens that people face health related issues while travelling to another state within their country and in such case, a health insurance card is like a boon to them. The European Health Insurance card is one such attempt towards saving people lives while they are stuck in a state due to an emergency.  

An easy way to register

The health insurance card remains valid till five years and after the stipulated amount of time,it is to be renewed. Most of the people find EHIC card renewal process as complicated but it is not so. One can easily login to the official site for renewing their cards. It is important because as long as a person uses their invalid cards they will not be able to utilise the services provided by European Health Insurance card.

Unable to cover medical costs

Confusion hovers among people that whether this card serves as travel insurance or not. One thing is to be cleared by the cardholders that this card does not cover any private medical costs. It is generally recommended to have travel insurance before undertaking a tour. The European Health insurance card is surely going to give individual facilities while they are in their homeland. But it does not give any facility as one is abroad. The NHS is able to make arrangements for funding for those who opt for treatments abroad.

Rules for non-EEA nationals

 

As it is a fact that those who are citizens of Swiss country, for them, EHIC card renewal process is not that tough. But if any of their family members who are not a resident of European country intends to renew their cards then it is not that easy process. This is because the non EEA nationals are required to provide evidences to show their eligibility for the health insurance card. They have to complete certain procedures such as submitting an application form provided by the EHIC.

Important processes

If anyone wishes to renew card of their family members with Swiss nationality then they are required to give specific detail of their family members. It would surely ensure that details regarding their family members have been appropriately linked. The details of the family members are to be given as long as their cards are valid. Otherwise a warning message will appear regarding non-renewal for their cards.

Henceforth it can be concluded that while registering or renewing cards one need to be very careful. EHIC card renewal procedures are to be strictly fooled by the citizens.  In case those who are registered under the EHIC are required to call at the toll free number provided by the government. It can be said that registration to the Health Insurance card is one of the best and effective way to cure ailments free of cost.
