Knowing The Root Cause Of Behavioral Disorders & Looking For Prevention Programs

Decades of prolonged studies have already been done, hundreds of thesis papers have been published, thousands of experimentation have been done with the patients, but one fact about the emotional and behavioral disorders have always remained constant, the cause of it still remains elusive. However, all these research works have not gone in vain since some of the relationships regarding the cause of these emotional and behavioral disorders have been clearly drawn. In some of the generalized cases, children who have the history of physical abuse actually grow up with a higher probability of being identified with both emotional and behavioral disorders.

The entire medical world is up to find out one solid reason why these emotional and behavioral disorders happen. Just like all other diseases that exist, even some biological and genetic causes of the emotional or behavioral disorders are being identified. Even some of the biological disorders like mood disorders, depression, and even schizophrenia have been found associated with these behavioral disorders. While Christopher Manente has been studying about these reasons that can have maximum impact on those who are suffering from it, he believes that an attempt to know the biological cause might help in the correct diagnosis, and help progress on the right track as well.

The environment in which one grows up and the culture in which he is being brought up play an important role in unfolding an individual’s behavior. Apart from the family where one biologically belongs to, there are some extended families as well of which he is a part of- a society in small, and mankind in large. Therefore, how one is being accepted in the community or the environment that he sees while growing up shapes up a character and helps in personality development. Chances of these developments are both positive and negative. There has been hardly an issue where one particular negative experience will have might lead to any behavioral problem.

However, when a combination of problems like poverty, negligence, stress, frustrations, parental abuse, inconsistent expectations, and failures all pile up together, it creates immense pressure on the psychology of an individual- be it a child or even an adult. Hence, it is highly essential to have the right diagnosis of the cause, and hence go for further shaping of character. According to Christopher Manente, it is right from childhood that a character starts building up, and school life is a big part in every kid’s life.

This henceforth is another major reason for having a deep impact on the behavioral growth of the kids. It is not just the parents or the community who have expectation from kids, but also the teachers in the school and the peer pressure that keeps building up. While on one side, when the teacher’s action can make the entire thing better for a student, on the other it can even have a negative impact as well. Identifying the causes has always been the key in case of behavioral disorder, and the sooner it is being done, the better it gets.
