Everything You Need To Know About Laser Tattoo Removal

Getting a tattoo in the first place is a serious decision, and not one that should be taken lightly. The permanence of a tattoo can mean that many people who have regretted their decision to obtain one may decide to reverse their decision. This is normally in the case of individuals who have their partner’s names tattooed on their body or have previously resorted to a less than capable tattoo artist for the sake of having a tattoo. If you have regretted your decision to obtain a tattoo and would like to have it removed, then you may want to consider laser tattoo removal. Here, we’re taking a closer look at everything you need to know about the procedure.

How Much Does Laser Tattoo Removal Cost?

As with any procedure, the cost of it is an important consideration. In order to ensure that you are obtaining the most effective treatment, it is important that you choose a professional business who are highly recommended in the industry. Laser tattoo removal costs approximately 10 times more than what it may have cost to have it done initially, but if you are really unhappy with the tattoo, then it is a cost worth paying.

How Long Does It Take To Remove A Tattoo?

Many people want to have their tattoo removed within a certain time period, for example if they are getting married they would like it to be removed before the wedding. The body’s immune system will play an important role in flushing away the ink once the laser has broken the pigment down, and most patients will require a number of sessions, with up to three months in between these sessions, for the tattoo to be removed completely. It is also not unusual for the body to take up to one year to remove the tattoo, and the speed of the removal will be entirely dependent on a number of other factors including skin type, ink colours, tattoo location on the body, scarring, vividness of the tattoo, and whether or not the tattoo was a coverup initially (ink layering).

Does Laser Tattoo Removal Hurt?

Similar to having a tattoo, it is expected that laser tattoo removal will have some form of discomfort – but this is entirely dependent on your pain threshold. It is important to understand that it is likely that you will experience a level of discomfort whilst having the procedure, but generally the pain is bearable and skin numbing can be provided if necessary.

Does Later Tattoo Removal Cause Scarring

Many people want to ensure that their skin looks as natural as possible after the procedure, and some are concerned that once the ink has been removed, numerous scars will remain in place. If there was already a scar in place before the laser tattoo removal, then you can expect that to remain. However, it is very uncommon for a patient to scar as a result of laser tattoo removal, as the laser targets the pigment of that too within the skin – the ink will be eliminated but nothing else will be marked.

As you can see there are a lot of important considerations to bear in mind when opting for both a tattoo and laser tattoo removal. We hope that our guide has helped you to make the right decision.
