Everything You Should Know Before Opting For Lipo

It’s important that if you are thinking about undergoing any cosmetic surgery that you know all the information to allow you to make an informed decision. Therefore, if you are thinking about opting for cutting edge Vaser Lipo London, we have compiled a guide for everything you should know before opting for liposuction, so you can be sure that you are making the right choice for you.

Liposuction Can Be Used On Most Areas

Despite the majority of patients that choose to undergo liposuction have the surgery on their thighs, hips, bum and chin, the procedure can be carried out on most areas of the body to help to assist in removing unwanted body fat. For those who want the procedure on a number of different areas of their body, then it’s suggested that you have separate sessions to help the body to recover well.

Surgical And Non-Surgical Liposuction

There are now some cosmetic surgeons that are able to perform both surgical and non-surgical liposuction. Non-surgical lipo, otherwise known as Vaser Lipo, involves minimal invasion, using ultrasound to target the fat cells, making it easy to remove the fat deposits without causing any damage to the skin. Surgical liposuction, on the other hand, involves the surgeon using small incisions and a surgical vacuum to remove the fat deposits through heat and vibrations.

Liposuction Isn’t For Everyone

Liposuction is typically for those who have localised areas of fat that don’t respond to diet and exercise. To be suitable for the surgery, your BMI should be a maximum of 30 and a minimum of 15. During consultations with your chosen cosmetic surgeon, they will discuss your reasons for the surgery and whether you are suitable, providing you with alternatives if you are not.

Not An Aid For Weight Loss

This surgery is not to be used as an aid for weight loss. Through the liposuction procedure, patients only lose a small amount of weight. Those that opt for the surgery are looking for a defined figure and to remove stubborn areas of fat that have been difficult to remove through regular exercise and a healthy diet.

Liposuction Surgery Requires A Recovery Period

After the surgery, your surgeon will provide you with a compression garment to help your body create the proper shape. In some cases, you will be asked to stay in overnight, but it depends on the individual. If you work in an office you may be able to return to work in two to three days, but this depends on the healing rate and the pain. Strenuous activity must be avoided for two to four weeks after the surgery, but after a month, patients should be able to return to normal activities.

For those who want stubborn fat deposits removed, liposuction is an ideal procedure, especially if you are in decent shape, but want to enhance and sculpture your results. For those in poor health and who smoke, liposuction surgery is not suitable as an alternative to losing weight. Before you decide to undergo the surgery, ensure that you speak to a professional and obtain all the information you need to know to make an informed decision.
