Laser Hair Removal Hints

Laser hair removal can be a quite efficient and relatively painless method of removing unwanted hair from the body.  In a relatively short amount of time the hair follicles that the laser is being used on can be eliminated.  It really is the ideal treatment method for a number of reasons.

How Does It Work?

The hair follicles are targeted by the laser, which is attracted to the pigment of the hair.  It destroys the germ cells in the follicles so that no further hair can be grown there.  This process, though, does have to be repeated requires several treatments to achieve the desired results.

Fast Tips That May Help

Prior to your laser hair removal appointment, the clinic you’ve chosen will give you a set of instructions that should be followed.  Below are several hints and guidelines that should be followed prior to your appointment so that you receive the vest results.

Make certain that the treatment area is clean and is free from all creams, lotions and cosmetics prior to your appointment.  Failure to do so may interfere with the effectiveness of your laser hair treatment.

You should shave the treatment area on the day before to your appointment.  This should be done with a new and clean razor.  The reason for this is that shaving will allow the laser to better locate the hair follicles.

Do not do any tanning prior to your appointment and stay out of the sun before your appointment so that your skin pigmentation does not change from the shade it was when you had your first appointment.  The reasoning for this is that any tanning of the skin in the treatment area can cause burns and blisters in the treatment area.

Do not wax, pluck, bleach or do electrolysis in the treatment area for about a month prior to your appointment.  The rational for this is that if you temporarily remove the hair then there won’t be any hair to allow the laser to target the hair follicles.  For the treatment to work best, the hair should be short stubble so that the laser can better locate the hair follicles.

Do not use any antibiotics prior to your appointment.  If your doctor puts you on antibiotics for health reasons make certain you notify your clinic so that they can reschedule your appointment for at least two weeks after you stop taking your antibiotics.  This is important since antibiotics can cause a severe skin reaction.

Make certain that you go to your appointment wearing loose fitting clothing or clothing that will allow the treated area to be exposed.  The rational for this suggestion is quite obvious.  Tight fitting or rough clothing can irritate the sensitive area that has just been treated.  It is also quite likely that the person doing your treatment will apply a cream to soothe the area and this cream might stain your clothing.

If you are receiving laser hair treatment for bikini line hair removal make certain that you wear light colored underpants.  This is because the laser is absorbed by dark colors so dark colored underpants need to be avoided.

Get ready for your appointment with these fantastic tips!
