Why You Should Add K2 Supplements To Your Diet

In order to maintain good health, it is important to eat a variety of foods to get the vitamins and minerals your body needs. However, if you don’t eat well, you can supplement your diet with vitamins to help make sure you stay healthy. The K vitamins, K1 and K2, are essential vitamins that many people overlook.

What Is Vitamin K2?

Many people have probably never heard of Vitamin K unless they or their spouse has been pregnant. Most pregnant women will receive a Vitamin K injection to help ensure the health of their unborn child, but K2 is important for people of all ages. It is an essential vitamin, which means that it is necessary for proper bodily function, but it cannot be produced by the body.

The K vitamins have to be absorbed in the foods you eat, or you can take vitamin supplements to help make sure your body is getting the necessary amount of K2. Some of the foods that are high in K2 include: hard and soft cheeses, egg yolks, ground beef, butter, chicken breasts and organ meats like chicken liver. Whether you are getting this vitamin from your diet or taking Vitamin K2 supplements, there are many benefits to taking K2.

Vitamin K2 Benefits

The K vitamins help ensure that blood clots properly and they also help to keep your heart and immune system healthy, as well as support strong bones. K2, which is also known as menaquinone, is primarily used to ensure the health of the soft tissues in your body. However, it has been found to have many other benefits as well.

Reduces Cancer Risks

For men, K2 has been found to reduce the risk of prostate cancer by as much as 35%. A follow-up study that was conducted showed that men with higher amounts of K2 in their diets had a reduced risk of prostate cancer by as much as 63%. This vitamin works by inhibiting the growth of tumours and stops cancer cells from spreading.

Heart Health Vitamin

When Vitamin K was studied for heart health benefits, K2 was found to be more beneficial than Vitamin K1. Those in the study who had the higher amounts of K2 in their diet had less hardening of the arteries and had a lower risk of developing or dying from heart failure.

An Anti-Aging Product

The secret to more youthful looking skin may be ensuring that you have enough K2 in your diet. The vitamin has been found to help prevent wrinkles and maintain the skin’s elasticity by preventing the absorption of too much calcium in the arteries, soft tissues and veins. Since Japanese women consume high amounts of natto, which is fermented soybeans and contains K2, they have the fewest wrinkles of any other culture.

Approximately half of all adults are deficient in Vitamin K, so it is important to ensure you are getting sufficient amounts of it in your diet. You can add K2 supplements to your daily routine to ensure continued good health.
